Overview
Controlling the flow of customers into a store will be an essential component of store management during, and beyond the COVID 19 pandemic. The ability to demonstrate clear and simple controls for visiting customers is essential and the automation of this process allows valuable colleagues to get on with serving and dealing with visitors rather than supervising an exit or entrance process.
PARFAS have a number of automation products to complement these requirements and we can customise the solution to meet the ongoing needs of the store whatever they are.

Description
The solution will allow for entrances to be unmanned yet still monitored by shop floor teams and allows colleagues to interact based on real data rather than a subjective view of store capacity. There are 2 solutions available for the Flow Control within capacity managed environments such as retail, leisure and business.
They are as follows:
- Standard Solution with a GO/NO GO Red and Green display bases on a pre defined store capacity setting linked to a bespoke APP
- Extended Solution with 21” Software Driven Traffic Display with Capacity indicator and store population information.
Both solutions use the same intelligent Video Counting components to accurately determine the flow and capacity of the store. The difference in the solutions is the Customer Queue interface which is more sophisticated in the Extended Solution and less so in the Standard Solution. Both systems communicate to a Colleague APP delivering critical alerts on capacity and flow in order that the team member can respond if required to do so.
The Extended Solution allows a single or multiple entrances and exits whereas the Standard Solution handles a single in and out door (this can be the same or a different door).
Although speed is of the essence to get these kinda of solutions in place Parfas are able to customise operation over time to hopefully fit better into your stores operating processes.
Standard Solution
The Standard interface is delivered in the form of ‘traffic lights’ at the front door station. The large LED Illuminated indicators tell the customer to simply stop or go based on the pre set capacity settings and customers leaving the store.
Extended Solution
The Extended interface is delivered in the form of a customer facing 21” display. The large virtual Red and Green Illuminated indicators tell the customer to simply stop or go based on the pre set capacity settings and as customers leaving the store bringing the capacity down.
Operation
The solution is extremely simple to install and set up. It simply requires an entrance and exit per store (or a single combined use door). If the store capacity is set at 100 the entry camera will begin to count based on the signal information from the intelligent camera on the entrance. This camera can detect direction of trade in and out of the store. The information panel or illuminated display will show green until the capacity equals the store capacity. As the store capacity is reached the information panel or illuminated indicator will show red.
The flow of people will stop until a person leaves the site, the intelligent camera on the exit detects people leaving and increases the incoming capacity again.
The App
The APP allows colleagues to be on the shop floor responding to customers rather than stood supervising the entry door or in the case of a retail guard being deployed this allows them to respond to situations as they arise.
The free APP will deliver the store capacity alerts in real time and deliver over capacity alerts in the form of banners in the event of the capacity going above the agreed number allowed in store.
Additional Options for both solutions
- It is possible for us to connect the system to the store tannoy system if fitted to allow us to make an audio announcement over the store PA system if capacity is reached or breached.
- We can provide an additional screen to display the capacity information in another location
- Store Footfall can be captured through the system on a daily basis.
